The Former Nara Prison, distinguished as one of Japan’s Important Cultural Properties, will undergo a renovation to transform into HOSHINOYA Nara Prison. HOSHINOYA is the most luxurious brand within the Hoshinoya resort brand.
Originally constructed in 1908 during the 41st year of the Meiji era, the former Nara Prison stands as the lone surviving national Important Cultural Property among the “Meiji Five Great Prisons,” built with the aim of modernizing correctional facilities. Its elegant red brick structure serves as a testament to the ambition of the Meiji era.
