In Yanagawa, families celebrate a baby girl’s first Hinamatsuri Festival by decorating with colorful “Sagemon” alongside hina dolls, wishing for her healthy growth. Sagemon are handmade fabric ornaments shaped like cranes, rabbits, and other lucky symbols, combined with bright “Yanagawa Mari” thread balls. Each piece carries wishes for happiness and good health from family members. During the Yanagawa Hinamatsuri Festival: Sagemon Meguri, shops and tourist spots are beautifully decorated with these ornaments, creating a festive atmosphere.

2: Hina no Tsurushi Kazari Festival

The 28th Izu Inatori Onsen Hina no Tsurushi Kazari Festival will be held from January 20 (Monday) to March 31 (Monday), 2025 in Inatori Onsen, Shizuoka Prefecture. The main venue is Bunka Park Hina-no-Yakata, known as one of Japan’s three major hanging hina decoration displays.

This tradition began in the late Edo period and is unique to Inatori. Its exact origins are unclear, but it has been passed down for over 100 years.

At Susanoo Shrine, hina dolls and hanging decorations will be displayed on 118 steps until March 9 (Sunday), 2025. This is the largest tiered hina doll display in Japan, offering a stunning view.

Konosu Surprise Doll’s Festival

Konosu City in Saitama Prefecture has a 400-year history of doll-making. Known as a city of traditional craftsmanship, Konosu hosts the tallest pyramid-style hina doll display in Japan, featuring 31 tiers and reaching about 7 meters in height. Visitors can also enjoy beautiful hina doll displays at various locations throughout the city.
