On February 12, 2025, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) urged people to avoid moving between March and April. This is the busiest time for moving companies, making it hard to book services.

Chapter 2: Details of Announcement

In Japan, many people move between March and April because the new school and work year starts in April. This creates a high demand for moving companies.

To reduce congestion, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) is asking people to move at different times. The busiest period is expected to be from March 15 to April 6.

This is also the first year-end under new labor rules that limit truck drivers’ overtime to 960 hours per year. With fewer drivers available, MLIT is urging people to avoid peak moving times.
