ETC Japan: Service Restored After Expressway Traffic Delays

NEXCO Central Japan resumed ETC Japan service at toll booths on the Tomei Expressway, Chuo Expressway, and other roads after a system issue. On Sunday, April 6, a failure in the ETC Japan control system at interchanges stopped ETC use and caused heavy traffic jams. Crews finished emergency repairs at all toll booths by 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 7. A system update on April 5 caused the problem. NEXCO Central Japan apologized sincerely for the inconvenience caused to ETC Japan users.
