Vegan Restaurant at Jiyugaoka, Tokyo: Plus Veganique
previous post
Are you interested in vegan restaurants in Tokyo? As you ascend the incline from Jiyugaoka Station, you’ll encounter a white two-story eatery.
Plus Veganic is a restaurant where you can enjoy organic and vegan menus. Its distinctive feature is its dishes that are gentle on both the body and the environment, as they do not use any animal products, food additives, or white sugar. The soy sauce selected is also free of wheat. The colorful vegetables delivered from contract farmers are prepared in the kitchen on the first floor by Yoshio Kato, the chef owner with experience in Italian cuisine, and his wife Shinobu, who specializes in desserts. Their journey into macrobiotics was inspired by health challenges, leading them to explore and master the art of vegetable cooking.
This time for lunch, I had the “Colorful Vegetable Antipasto Plate.” It was a plate of assorted vegetable deli items. The specific items included can vary depending on the day, but this time it included carrot rapé, cabbage coleslaw, sweet vinegar-marinated purple cabbage, sweet potato and walnut, salad with onion dressing, and fresh fruits such as apples and kumquats, all served with apple juice. Each dish was carefully prepared to enhance the natural flavors of the vegetables and fruits, with subtle acidity and sweetness. It was a menu that was easy to eat and full of flavor. Whether you are vegetarian, vegan, or not, you will surely enjoy these dishes.
For lunch, not only is the “Colorful Vegetable Antipasto Plate” available, but also vegetarian lasagna made with tofu cream, gluten-free brown rice paella, and courses that include dessert and coffee. Of course, there are also dinner courses where you can enjoy seasonal vegetable dishes. The courses are also attractive for their appealing, delicious desserts made without eggs, butter, dairy products, and white sugar. Plus Veganique offers visually pleasing and delicious dishes. Whether dining alone or with someone special, please give this vegan restaurant in Tokyo a try.
