As Japan's first crêperie

From a bustling main street crowded with many people, step into a historical alleyway. You will encounter a small cobblestone-like path, reminiscent of a Parisian street, where a small sign comes into view. In the Kagurazaka district, where the touch of Edo culture still lingers, Le Bretagne opened its doors in 1996 as Japan’s first crêperie. The warm wooden interior and expansive terrace seating allow you to savor the galettes, traditional Breton cuisine.

French Culinary Journey: From Galettes to Crêpe Suzette

Entering the interior where French words fill the air, you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported to the actual location. We started with corn soup, a dish allowing you to fully savor the natural flavors of vegetables. Next, we had the Galette bretonne – a crepe filled with mushrooms, bacon, scrambled eggs, cheese, Hokkaido-produced fresh cream, and Espelette pepper. The harmonious combination of creamy texture, bacon’s saltiness, and a light overall flavor was delightful. Finally, the Crêpe Suzette featured a rich taste with the refreshing bitterness of orange peel and the flambéed Grand Marnier, making it exceptionally delicious. The restaurant’s unique flavors stem from carefully selected buckwheat flour, imported cheese, and fresh vegetables directly delivered from contracted farms, all of which contribute to a high-quality dining experience.

Enjoy Breton flavor at home

Next to the restaurant, there is a shop where you can purchase imported food and beverages from France. They offer items such as confiture, oil-packed sardines, mustard, salt, vinegar, and other seasonings. You can also bring the flavors of the restaurant to your own home with products like soupe de poisson and Breton cider.
