A café for experiencing Japanese tradition

Nihonbashi’s Ningyocho to Bakurocho area has thrived as a textile wholesale district since the Edo period. In this place, where you can still feel the traditional culture of Japan, “Tokyo Yukata”, a long-established wholesaler of fabric such as yukata and kimono, has opened an authentic cafe.

Upon entering the shop, you’ll find a wide array of beautifully crafted, vibrant dyed yukata and hand towels etc. Seeking to offer an accessible taste of traditional culture, the shop sells them at affordable price. Cute fans and sensu (folding fans) would make delightful souvenirs.

The finest cup crafted by a barista

The cafe is suffused with the delightful aroma of freshly brewed coffee, where skilled barista crafts each cup with precision and care. In term of the beans, meticulously sourced by the baristas, are roasted on the second floor of the cafe. As a shop that pays close attention to their beans, the top recommendation is their black coffee. You can choose your favorite from the beans recommended by the barista. For the author, who usually finds black coffee a bit strong, the barista prepared a milder brew that was fruity yet with a gentle acidity. The coffee served in Arita ware from Saga was incredibly easy to drink, with a light flavor that made it seem like you could have as many cups as you wanted. It was truly delicious. There are also food items that pair well with such coffee, including French toast and rich custard pudding. The slightly sweet and warm French toast, along with the cold vanilla ice cream, are, of course, a perfect match. When enjoyed with the coffee, the bitterness and sweetness blend perfectly, creating an exquisite flavor.

Why not try experiencing Japanese culture and authentic coffee together?
